UN ECE Regulations permit higher-intensity high-beam headlights than allowed under U.S. Therefore, they are only suitable for use when alone on the road, as the glare they produce will dazzle other drivers. High beam (also called main beam, driving beam, or full beam) headlights provide an intense, centre-weighted distribution of light with no particular glare control. High beam (main beam, driving beam, full beam) ISO symbol for high beam This results in substantially increased glare for oncoming drivers and also poorer illumination of the near side of the roadway in comparison to headlights conforming to UN ECE regulations. The half of the beam closest to the outside of the road is also flat, but higher than the half closest to oncoming vehicles. These standards contain regulations for dipped beam headlights that also specify a beam with a sharp, asymmetric cut-off the half of the beam closest to oncoming drivers is also flat and low, but not as low as prescribed in UN ECE regulations. The United States and Canada use proprietary FMVSS / CMVSS standards instead of UN ECE regulations. This permits a functional compromise where it is possible to substantially prevent glare for oncoming drivers, while still allowing adequate illumination for drivers to see pedestrians, road signs, hazards, etc. UN ECE regulations for dipped beam headlights specify a beam with a sharp, asymmetric cut-off the half of the beam closest to oncoming drivers is flat and low, while the half of the beam closest to the outside of the road slopes up and towards the near side of the roadway. This beam is specified for use whenever other vehicles are present ahead. Low beam (also called dipped beam, passing beam, or meeting beam) headlights provide adequate forward and lateral illumination without dazzling other road users with excessive glare. Main article: Headlamp Low beam (dipped beam, passing beam, meeting beam) ISO symbol for low beam Vehicle lighting colour specifications can differ somewhat in countries that have not signed the 1949 and/or 1968 Conventions examples include turn signals and side marker lights in North America, as described in those lights' sections later in this article.įorward illumination is provided by high- ("main", "full", "driving") and low- ("dip", "dipped", "passing") beam headlights, which may be augmented by auxiliary fog lights, driving lights, or cornering lights. No other colours are permitted except on emergency vehicles. With some regional exceptions, lights facing rearward must emit red light, side-facing lights and all turn signals must emit amber light, and lights facing forward must emit white or selective yellow light. The colour of light emitted by vehicle lights is largely standardized by established conventions, first codified in the 1949 Geneva Convention on Road Traffic and later specified in the 1968 United Nations Vienna Convention on Road Traffic. In 1993, the first LED tail lights were installed on mass-production automobiles, with LED headlights subsequently being introduced in the 2000s as more powerful LEDs became available. High-intensity discharge (HID) headlights were produced starting in 1991. Halogen headlights were developed in Europe in 1960. By 1945, headlights and signal lights were integrated into the body styling. Self-cancelling turn signals were developed in 1940. Sealed beam headlights were introduced in 1936 and standardized as the only acceptable type in the US in 1940. Tail lights and brake lights were introduced around 1915, and by 1919, low-beam or dipped beam headlights were available. She did not patent these inventions, however, and received no credit or profit from them. Silent film star Florence Lawrence is credited with introducing an innovative version of the signalling arm in 1914, a predecessor to the modern turn signal, and a mechanical brake signal. Trafficators-signalling arms that flipped up, which later were lighted-were introduced in about 1900. Dynamos for automobile headlights were first fitted around 1908 and became commonplace in 1920s automobiles. It did not have all-electric lighting as a standard feature until several years after its introduction. The first Ford Model T used carbide lamps for headlights and oil lamps for tail lights. Many emergency vehicles have distinctive lighting equipment to warn drivers of their presence.Įarly road vehicles used fuelled lamps before the availability of electric lighting. Various devices have the dual function of illuminating the road ahead for the driver, and making the vehicle visible to others, with indications to them of turning, slowing or stopping, etc., with lights also indicating the size of some large vehicles. It is a popular drink to enjoy with breakfast or in the afternoon for a pick-me-up. The most popular type of coffee is brewed with a drip coffee maker, which is a common appliance found in most kitchens.Ĭoffee generally has a mild flavor and aroma, and can be enjoyed with cream, milk, or sugar for added sweetness. This brews a flavorful and aromatic beverage that can be enjoyed hot or cold.Ĭoffee can be brewed in a variety of ways, including French press, pour-over, or with a drip coffee maker. Generally, coffee is made by grinding coffee beans and then adding hot water to the grounds. It is enjoyed by millions of people daily and comes in a variety of flavors and forms. What is Coffee?Ĭoffee is one of the most beloved beverages in the world. Once the extraction is complete, the result is a slightly larger, more intense espresso-based drink that is perfect for those who enjoy a strong coffee flavor. The extraction time for a Gran Lungo will take a bit longer than a regular espresso shot, usually about 25-30 seconds, so it is important to be patient and wait for the full extraction to be complete. This creates a larger, more intense flavor. The difference is that the water used to make the Gran Lungo should be around twice the amount used for a regular espresso shot. When preparing a Gran Lungo, the espresso needs to be finely ground and tamped, just like with a regular espresso shot. The Gran Lungo is best suited for those who prefer a more intense flavor with their coffee, while still enjoying the convenience of a single-serve espresso machine. This drink is often used as a substitute for a regular espresso shot, as it still has the same flavor intensity, but with a slightly larger size. It is made with an increased amount of water than a typical espresso shot, resulting in a slightly larger drink with a more intense flavor. What is a Gran Lungo?Ī Gran Lungo is an espresso-based beverage offered by the Nespresso brand. Gran Lungo and coffee are both caffeinated beverages, but they have different flavor profiles and brewing methods. It has a stronger flavor, as well as a more intense aroma. Gran Lungo is an espresso-style drink that is produced using a larger amount of water than a traditional espresso. Just pulled the top part of the pillar, hinged it out a bit, and did my routing. The only really weird part was the A pillar since it has a tether, but I had no issue routing the wire without cutting the tether. I might switch to just using one of those add-a-fuse things since I'm already in the fusebox, but for now it's been running wonderfully with completely no wires showing and all the slack in the empty space in the cabin fusebox. I ran my wire under the back mirror plastic cover, tucked into the headliner, behind the A pillar (tucked behind the airbag so I don't get slapped with wire in the future), followed down behind the rubber door trim (just peels off and pushes back into place), and into the cabin fusebox where I could easily plug into the OBD port without issue. I wish I saw that rearview mirror adapter before I went my route. Let me know if you have any other questions. So far so good and hopefully it stays that way. Captures great footage and the app is quite easy and straightforward to use. As for the Viofo A139, it's been awesome. I plan on running the rear camera in the Spring once weather is nice and warm again and I have room in my garage. I have not yet put the rear camera in the hatch as I got lazy when I did the install so I just have it setup as a 1Ch. I can't be 100% sure, but no power seems to go to it after the ignition is turned off and it's not recorded any parking footage yet. I do not think the Parking Mode works with this adapter. I have a 2021 CX-5 Signature so I needed the frameless mirror adapter, you may need just the standard Mazda adapter depending on what model CX-5 you have. I used the adapter as mentioned in this thread It was an easy install, took me maybe about 30-45 mins taking my time, hiding the power cable, setting up the cam etc. Dash Cam as it was the newer model and had a few more features and improvements over the A129 Plus Duo that I had originally intended getting. Rear-wheel-drive and a six-speed manual transmission come standard, and four-wheel-drive is optional. On the Algerian market, power for the Titano comes from a 1.9-liter turbodiesel four-cylinder engine rated at 147 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. The line-up also includes several trim levels ranging from basic variants with black bumpers and steel wheels to more upmarket-looking versions with alloy wheels and a touchscreen. Buyers in some markets, like Algeria, will also have a 209.8-inch long single-cab version to choose from. These figures make it about an inch longer, almost exactly as wide, and around three inches lower than the latest version of the Ford Ranger. Like the Landtrek, the Titano stretches 212.2 inches long in double-cab configuration, 75.6 inches wide, and 71.6 inches tall. It's a badge-engineered version of the Peugeot Landtrek, which was developed jointly with China-based Chang'an and has been on sale in a handful of countries since 2020. It could also be possible that both Fred and Barney work at the quarry, but may work in different sections of it, under different bosses. When speaking to an upper-crust snob in another episode, Betty declares Barney is in "top-secret" work but that might have been a cover for a low-level job or unemployment, or perhaps an in-joke meaning that Barney's job was unknown even to the show's writers. By the time of I Yabba-Dabba Do!, Barney and Fred are seemingly no longer working part-time as police officers, with Fred once again working full time at the quarry, however Barney is back to working at his unidentified job which Fred picks him up from. Barney would continue working there for most subsequent media, and in The Flintstone Comedy Show, Barney along with Fred would briefly join the Bedrock Police force as part-time officers late in Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm's teen years while still working at the quarry. The first instance of Barney working alongside Fred at Slate's company was in the 70s primetime specials and The New Fred and Barney Show. An episode of the original series does have a brief scene of Barney working at the Granite Building and one episode depicting him as a furniture reposessor after Fred got him fired from his first job, although after this episode, the nature of his job became ambiguous once again later on. While the subject of Barney's occupation (or even if he had one) was never given during the original series (only implied at best), subsequent spin-offs suggest Barney went to work at the Slate Rock and Gravel Company alongside Fred at some point after the original series possibly in some office role. In the first episode of the original series he was an inventor of a hand-powered helicopter called the Flintstone Flyer. He is also a talented pianist and drummer. He, like Fred, was also a member of the Loyal Order of Water Buffaloes and its predecessor in earlier episodes, the Loyal Order of Dinosaurs. He also wears a brown loincloth with a black letter X-shaped shoelace on the top.īarney's interests included bowling, playing pool, poker, tinkering around in Fred's garage and playing golf (though there were episodes where Barney did not know how to play golf). He cries, however, after saying, "I hate to see a grown man cry," or "Oh gee, if there's one thing I can't stand is to see a grown man cry."īarney is a short and diminutive caveman with fair skin, tan beard stubbles, yellow hair, thick black eyebrows and eyes that are depicted as two ovals or (occasionally) circles and shown only as dark circular outlines in the first through fifth seasons and later with black, very similar to Wilma's eyes in the sixth and final season of the original series. Fred is often aggravated by Barney's inveterate cheerfulness, but he does truly care for him.īarney is not as emotional as the other characters including Fred, and rarely cries. He changes his mind after Fred owes him an apology. The best example comes in I Yabba-Dabba Do! after losing his patience with Fred for ruining Pebbles's and Bamm-Bamm's wedding, Barney decides to leave Bedrock. Also, he’s a loving father to his adopted son, Bamm-Bamm.Īlthough Fred and Barney are best pals, Barney loses his patience with Fred occasionally. He’s very caring and devoted to his wife Betty as he never wanted to be romantically involved with another woman. whatever you say, Fred."īarney is more jovial, easy-going and good-natured than Fred is, though he often plays funny little insult jokes on his best friend. Usually, after Fred had hatched one of his plans, Barney showed his agreement by laughing and saying, "uh hee hee hee. Like Ralph Kramden on The Honeymooners, Fred was constantly on the lookout for get-rich-quick schemes, while Barney, like Norton, found life satisfactory as it was, but participated in said schemes because Fred was his friend. 6.1 Television shows, films and specialsīarney's personality was based on that of Ed Norton on the 1950s television series The Honeymooners, played by Art Carney. Digital Foundry spoke with Cerny in detail and published a "deep dive" on April 2. Full specifications were given in an online presentation by Cerny and published by Sony and Digital Foundry on March 18, 2020. At CES 2020, Sony unveiled the official logo for the platform, which follows the similar minimalist styling of the previous PlayStation consoles and brand. The current hardware specifications were revealed in October 2019. In a second Wired magazine interview in October 2019, Sony said it intended to ship its next-generation console worldwide by the end of 2020. In early 2019, Sony's financial report for the quarter ending March 31, 2019, affirmed that new next-generation hardware was in development but would ship no earlier than April 2020. Marketing and releaseĬerny first publicly described the new console in an interview with Wired magazine in April 2019. Jim Ryan, the CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, stated that Sony had researched the feasibility of a "low priced, reduced spec" version of the PlayStation 5, like what Microsoft had done with its lower-power counterpart to the Xbox Series X, the Xbox Series S, and concluded that they believed such consoles do not fare well, becoming obsolete too fast. An important goal was to find ways to reduce loading time, particularly in games that stream or dynamically load new game areas as the player moves through the game world. Slow data rates placed limits on the size of data being loaded into the game, the physical location of data on the storage medium, and the duplication of data across the medium in order to reduce load times. Cerny said several developers, including Epic Games' Tim Sweeney, told him that standard I/O speed of hard disk drives was now a limiting factor in pushing game development. During the development of the PlayStation 5, a central challenge revolved around addressing the length of loading times for games. This feedback directly influenced the priorities of the console development team. This entailed regularly visiting Sony's first-party developers at two-year intervals to find out what concerns they had with shortcomings in Sony's current hardware and how such hardware could be improved in console refreshes or for the next generation. The lead architect of the PlayStation console line, Mark Cerny, implemented a two-year feedback cycle after the launch of the PlayStation 4. History Development Mark Cerny, the PlayStation 5's chief architect Other features include the DualSense controller with haptic feedback, backward compatibility with the majority of PlayStation 4 and PlayStation VR games, and the PlayStation VR2 headset. The PlayStation 5's main hardware features include a solid-state drive customized for high-speed data streaming to enable significant improvements in storage performance, an AMD GPU capable of 4K resolution display at up to 120 frames per second, hardware-accelerated ray tracing for realistic lighting and reflections, and the Tempest Engine for hardware-accelerated 3D audio effects. Slimmer hardware revisions of both models replaced the original models on sale in November 2023. The two variants were launched simultaneously. The Digital Edition lacks this drive, as a lower-cost model for buying games only through download. The base model includes an optical disc drive compatible with Ultra HD Blu-ray discs. The PS5 is part of the ninth generation of video game consoles, along with Microsoft's Xbox Series X/S consoles, which were released in the same month. It was announced as the successor to the PlayStation 4 in April 2019, was launched on November 12, 2020, in Australia, Japan, New Zealand, North America, and South Korea, and was released worldwide one week later. This game needed some modifications for the simulator, most notably that big clock in the middle of the table. The whole thing took about twenty minutes (mostly spent copy-pasting card images into a big jpeg) and my game was playable in the simulator. Give the URL for the template in the first box, the URL for an image for the back of the cards in the second and drag the slider to tell it how many cards there are in total. Upload that image someplace, then click on import custom deck. These each have numbered cards, simply replace each number with the images and text that you want on that cards and you’re good to go. Look in the game’s director for a folder marked “Modding” in which is the folder “Deck Templates” which contains two images. The method for this isn’t hugely apparent, but a bit of googling makes it clear. This all seems to work pretty well and I’ve got a few prototype card games to try so I’ll have a go at uploading one. Hovering over a deck shows how many cards it contains, hitting ALT while hovering over a deck or card shows a large version. Click and hold to grab a deck, click and drag to grab one card, F to flip it over, stack them on top of each other to make a deck, wave the cursor around while holding a deck to shuffle it. The cards are generally pretty slick though. On the other hand it’s hard to imagine playing liar dice, as it’s very challenging to lift a cup and have a look at the dice underneath without sending everything spiralling into oblivion. I can imagine a deckbuilder running well here, as shuffling a deck of cards is much faster and easier than it otherwise might be. Generally the systems seem pretty good, in some cases superior to physical cardboard, in other ways inferior. Presently it’s probably too small to be noticed, but if the platform really takes off I can imagine it vanishing in a puff of cease and desist orders.Ī quick run through the tutorial teaches me the basics of how to import and use game components. In particular I note that there are three games of Magic: The Gathering running using scans of cards. About two thirds of the games on offer are recognisable titles for which I doubt the publishers have given permission. Looking at the lobby there’s a fantastic amount of board game piracy going on here, something that’s traditionally not been a big problem. On the other hand that price allows people to join any game, playtesting or otherwise, so it’s likely to be a very fine deal to people with broad interests. I doubt that anyone would pay that price to test a solitary game, so it’s hard to bring over existing testers who aren’t already interested in it for some other reason. I thought that for today’s post I’d crack it open and throw a recent prototype into it, in order to see how it works and gives some impressions of the thing.Īt the moment the game is £10.99 on Steam, which is very affordable from a designer’s point of view, but I’m not sure how that price tag would affect possible playtesters.
